This Halloween, We're Putting the "Trick" Back Into Trick-Or-Treat
Posted by Molly + Lawrence on Oct 8th 2024
When you think of the Halloween season, there's one phrase in particular that comes to mind: "Trick-or-Treat!" Here at Love My Switches, we asked ourselves--why not both?
If you don't know by now, the Love My Switches team always enjoys a good laugh. That's why in every order for the rest of the month, we're giving you the means to create your own "tricks and treats" in your very own home. That's right, it's candy AND prank stickers!
We've had some fun with them around the office . . .
What has the team at Love My Switches been drinking lately . . .
Random Mischief
When we shared these silly stickers with our friend Keith, he told us a story about one of his favorite harmless pranks from many years ago, back when he was the drummer in Asobi Seksu and the band shared a rehearsal space with a very messy jam band . . .
Here's how Keith tells it:
If you’ve ever shared a rehearsal space with another band (or two or three), you know the challenges—you show up, and the room is a disaster. Your amps are moved to the other end of the room. The other band left their half-eaten bag of Cheetos and beers everywhere. Someone played your drums and adjusted the stool 1.5” higher and tilted your snare stand 3 degrees in the wrong direction.
A lot of times, your paths never cross. You might not even ever meet each other. So, what’s the best way to resolve this? Do you leave a passive-aggressive sign on the door? Do you send a nice email? Do you leave the space even worse off and make it look like someone ransacked the place (that could be fun . . .)? Do you leave a sign that kindly has a list of things to check off before leaving?
Or . . .
Do you stage a toy military army battle with action figures and a geographic border of masking tape, staking your piece of territory in a shared 10x10-foot room?
I did this with my band once, leaving the military standoff for the other band to discover when they arrived the following day. Our soldiers were pointing rocket launchers and tanks at their side of the room, while another set of troops were holding their line.
Unsure of their reaction, I emailed the band photos of the scene a few days later. We all laughed about the mess and agreed to keep the room tidy. Proof that silliness is sometimes the most effective form of communication.
Send us your pranks! If you have a fun prank story to share, please drop us a line via email or tag us on Instagram @lovemyswitches. (We want to see those stickers in action!)
