Description

Our dual-color pre-wired LED gives you two colors in one seriously high-quality package.

The heavy-duty "deep cup" bezel is made of a sleek and solid hunk of aluminum and comes with a silicone gasket, metal spring washer, and brass mounting hex nut.

The LED comes pre-wired with a current limiting resistor (CLR) built in. It is common cathode, meaning the colors share a ground, and you will be switching the anode (positive side).

If both colors are switched on you get a lighter green color (not pictured).

You can feed them 9-12V. It has an epoxied bottom seal.

For guitar pedals, recording studio gear, Sim Driving control panels, and other really cool hobby projects where you want to monitor the status of something with two colors.

The Specs:

12mm bezel

Common cathode - meaning the LEDs share a ground

8mm dual-color LED: red and green. A lighter green color is emitted when both red and green are powered (not pictured).

Frosted bulb color when not illuminated

9V-12V. You can always go under 9V, if you want a dimmer LED. Going over 12V risks burning it out.

Mounts in 12mm hole

Total assembly length without wires: 28.5mm

Depth from bottom of the cup to the end of the epoxy seal: 23mm

Wire length, about 21.6cm (8 1/2")

Waterproof rating: IP67

RoHS compliant

More about Pre-Wired LEDs:

A pre-wired LED is the ultimate time-saver, but not a lot of parts suppliers offer them. If you are new to this product, read on:

This is an LED mounted in a bezel with a resistor and sealed wires. The current limiting resistor is expecting 9VDC-12VDC and is hand picked to match the forward voltage of whichever LED color you pick. This means that you don't need to worry about the value of the resistor, only the voltage you're sending to it. You can always go under 9V if the LED is too bright—just don't go above 12V.

Wires: Black is negative; red is positive and turns on the Red; green is positive and turns on the Green.

How will a pre-wired LED save me time?

You will not have to:

Solder wires to your LED using a "third hand" that we all know isn't actually as good as a real, extra human hand
Cut shrink wrap
Bust out the heat gun to shrink said wrap
Mount the LED in the bezel
Glue in the LED (Oh you don't do this when mounting LEDs? You really should put a tiny lil' bit of crazy glue on there to make sure the LED stays secure, since it is likely to get stomped on by excited guitar players.)
ALL OF THE ABOVE IS DONE FOR YOU.

You'll save at least 30 minutes. That time savings will cost you an extra few bucks. If your time is worth more than $8 an hour, well then, the math works out. We don't know how many other ways to say it, "BUY THIS THING."

In what enclosures can I put these LEDs?

No modification needed: The pre-wired LED with bezel fits enclosures that have at least 23mm of internal depth, which includes all of our enclosures except for the 1590G.

What is the value of the resistor inside?

The resistor inside the pre-wired LED is designed to take 9V-12V. The value depends on the LED, as each color LED takes a slightly different forward voltage. Don't worry about the resistor value. Just think about the voltage you're sending to it.

P.S.: We've got a bunch of pre-wired LEDs for your projects! Including single-color LEDs (seven colors in both hump and cup style) and multicolor LEDs in high-lamp and indented styles.
