The pre-wired LED! The ultimate time-saver.
We've got seven colors in both hump and cup style to work with pretty much any pedal design.
Not a lot of other suppliers carry pre-wired LEDs, so if you are new to this product, read on:
What the heck is this thing?
This is an LED mounted in a bezel with a resistor and shrink-wrapped wires. The current limiting resistor is expecting 9VDC-12VDC and is hand picked to match the forward voltage of whichever LED color you pick. This means that you don't need to worry about the value of the resistor, only the voltage you're sending to it. You can always go under 9V if the LED is too bright—just don't go above 12V.
Positive and negative wires come from the resistor and are ready for your build. (This saves you so many extra steps!) Black is negative. Red is positive.
How will a pre-wired LED save me time?
You will not have to:
- Solder wires to your LED using a "third hand" that we all know isn't actually as good as a real, extra human hand
- Cut shrink wrap
- Bust out the heat gun to shrink said wrap
- Mount the LED in the bezel
- Glue in the LED (Oh you don't o this when mounting LEDs? You really should put a tiny lil' bit of crazy glue on there to make sure the LED stays secure, since it is likely to get stomped on by excited guitar players.)
ALL OF THE ABOVE IS DONE FOR YOU.
You'll save at least 10 minutes. That time savings will cost you an extra buck or so. If your time is worth less than $6 an hour, well then, the math works out. We don't know how many other ways to say it, "BUY THIS THING."
In what enclosures can I put these LEDs?
No modification needed: The pre-wired LED with bezel fits in 125B, 1590DD, 1590XX/1790NS.
1-second modification needed: To fit the pre-wired LED into a 1590B, 1590BB, or 1590A, you will need to modify it. Just snip off the plastic tab at the bottom, and it will fit right in.
What voltage should I use?
The resistor inside the pre-wired LED is designed to take 9V-12V. The value depends on the LED, as each color LED takes a slightly different forward voltage. Don't worry about the resistor value. Just think about the voltage you're sending to it.
9V-12V. You can always go under 9V if you want a dimmer LED. Going over 12V risks burning it out.
